Rick Ogden has served in the London Fire Brigade for almost 20 years, signing up at the age of 18. He was the youngest Station Commander in a generation, and has risen through the ranks to Deputy Assistant Commissioner (Acting). In postings all across London, he has attended the capital’s biggest emergencies of recent years: the aftermath of the 7/7 bombings, the London Riots, the Westminster and London Bridge terror attacks of 2017 and the Grenfell Tower fire. From trainee firefighter to senior officer, he has a unique perspective on the Fire Brigade at a range of different levels, and of attending major incidents as both a firefighter and a senior commander.
His memoir, Burned, will be published by HarperCollins in May 2018.
