Juliana is the ultimate Carioca girl, a word that defines not only people born in Rio de Janeiro, but also the lifestyle of the melting-pot-city. Rio is famed for its welcoming nature, which is apparent from the moment you set foot in the city. Immigrant cultures have intermingled with the native Brazilian and this makes for a richly diverse city; in food as much as in character.
From Italian descendants, Juliana started modelling as a teenager, and set out towards a career in the fashion industry when she was 15. After enrolling in the communications course at Rio’s Catholic University, Juliana discovered that her true passion was actually in the years she would never forget observing her grandmother cooking for the family when she was still a little child. Those moments of reunion with the family and the richness of the dishes that mixed both Italian and Brazilian recipes would become the backdrop of her real and devoted new career in gastronomy. After working for some celebrated restaurants in Rio and a time off to give birth to her little treasure Mia, Juliana has cooked and created menus for much acclaimed events and parties in the city, always mixing her gastronomic experiences with music and art, her two other great passions.
Juliana is currently working on her first cook book which will be a delectable tour through the streets, scenes and culinary delights of the host of the 2016 Olympic games: Rio de Janeiro.
