Phil Campion

Phil Campion is a veteran of military operations in just about every conflict-prone corner of the world. He served with the Royal Hampshires, passed through Commando and Parachute Regiment selection, before being badged with 22 SAS.

He left the British Army in his early thirties, with the rank of Staff Sergeant, and started working on the private military circuit. Phil was a contributor to Channel 4’s Drugs Live: The Ecstasy Trial.

Phil lives with his partner Wendy and their children in Southampton. He has written four books, including Born Fearless, the brutally honest story of Phil’s life as a military operator, Desert Fire and its sequel Killing Range. BORN FEARLESS: FROM SAS TO MERCENARY TO PIRATE HUNTER – MY LIFE AS A SHADOW WARRIOR

Not dead yet. Not kidnapped, captured, tortured or killed. But it’s only a matter of time… Meet ‘Big’ Phil Campion. To his fellow operators he’s a private military contractor. To you or me he’s a mercenary, a soldier of fortune, a gun for hire selling violence to the highest bidder. But to Big Phil it’s all just another chapter in a life spent fighting in the shadows.
Abandoned. Run-away. Half-beaten to death. Blown-up. Locked up. And all before the age of twenty. This is the incredible true story of how Phil Campion survived all of that, and went on to complete Commando selection, Para selection, and to join the SAS – before fighting as a mercenary in the world’s toughest war zones. Undertaking deniable operations, freeing hostages and escaping terrorists hell bent on revenge – the dangers and insane risks of life as a private military operator eclipsed even those of waging war in an SAS Sabre Squadron. Big Phil’s story of life on the private military circuit (‘The Circuit’) is a high-octane blend of chasing fast bucks in a Wild West industry, whilst always staying one step ahead of the bad guys.

‘I’ve often been asked if I’ve killed anyone. My answer: I didn’t shoot to miss.’ Phil Campion, January 2010.

DESERT FIRE: A STEVE RANGE AND BLACKSTONE SIX THRILLER

Sultan Gadaffi has escaped from Libya with a fistful of dangerous secrets. The British Government want ex-Special Forces operative Steve Range, the go-to man for any Black-Ops missions, to lead an ultra-covert mercenary group to seize him from his near-impregnable desert stronghold. Saed is defended by Tuareg warriors armed to the teeth with stolen NATO hardware. If Range’s team can somehow overcome them, then they will earn themselves gold bullion worth $500 million. But as the bullets begin to fly and the body count rises, Range realises that he’s been double-crossed. Unwilling to lose the gold, he begins to contemplate cutting a deal with the devil.

KILLING RANGE: LEFT FOR DEAD, BACK FOR REVENGE.

Steve Range believes his friend Randy is a corpse in a desert grave – until he reappears in an Al Qaeda video, spitting extremist hate and challenging Range and Blackstone Six to a desert battle that will settle a vicious blood feud.

But Range’s attention is drawn to a clue slipped in to Randy’s tirade, and he begins to wonder whether his old comrade-in-arms really has been turned by his captors. All he knows for sure is that he owes a debt to the man he left for dead.

Range leads a team from Blackstone Six on a high-stakes rescue mission, but he soon finds that his elite band of operators are facing a desperate fight like no other, one in which old loyalties and friendships will be tested to the limit and beyond.
