Lloyd Coleman– Composer, clarinetist and music broadcaster.
Born in South Wales, Lloyd attended Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester before studying composition with Gary Carpenter and clarinet with Angela Malsbury at the Royal Academy of Music. His music has been performed by many of the UK’s leading ensembles, including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, National Wind Orchestra of Wales and the Aurora Orchestra.
Lloyd is a long-standing member of the British Paraorchestra- the world’s first professional ensemble comprised solely of musicians with disabilities. In 2015, he became the first composer to write a new piece specifically for the Paraorchestra, entitled Towards Harmony. The critically acclaimed work received its second performance with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in February 2017.
Lloyd was recently featured on the BBC New Talent Hotlist 2017. His presenting credits to date include Choir of the Year (BBC Four), NYO at the BBC Proms (BBC iPlayer) and A Night at the Movies (Royal Academy of Music).
